The name Oisin Abellio is a pseudonym. However, as the subject invariably uses this name, and as no original name has been discovered, it will be used throughout this document. Correspondence inside the Lykofian Empire (AKA the Orchid Empire) that may refer to the subject uses the symbol for the rank typically translated in Pan-galactic as “marquis.” However, there is no such person that matches Abellio’s description in the rolls of peers that list the official noble titles held currently by all subjects of the empire.
Both names, Oisin and Abellio, are from ancient human mythology. It is possible they hold metaphorical significance to the subject.
Oisin Abellio’s name appears in the customs records of no less than 300 unique worlds and stations, for a time stretching back four years. No reference to him exists from before that. His travel in the first 18 months appears to have been random both in his choice of destinations and the duration of his stay. Computer analysis indicates he may have been using an actual randomization algorithm to defeat attempts to predict his movements. He holds personal identification from the Braun League (in which he holds the purchased title “Gentleman Adventurer”), The Stellar Empire of Amanap, and Letram Alliance (where he may have held the title of Elector Count, but does not appear to have actually owned or ruled any territory). There are indications that he attempted to purchase membership in the Orion Syndicate, but was unsuccessful.
The first record of note involving Abellio is his admittance to a hospital on Galloway where he was treated for injuries sustained during the May Day riots that would later metastasize into the Red and Green War. According to the police report, Abellio stated it had been his intention to view the Gardens of Social Harmony when he’d been caught up in the riot. His injuries were minor. Records of the time after the riots are incomplete and most of those that survived the war are deemed unreliable by Pinkerton-Rym data managers as both sides utilized extensive disinformation and propaganda strategies.
The next appearance of note is at the Siege of Argos, where he was an observer during the Third Parley as a guest of General Wilde of the Sacred Band of Letram. (It is an off-hand comment by the General that supplies the only evidence for Abellio being an Elector Count of the Alliance. It is entirely possible the General was making a joke.) It was for a time believed that he was slain in the infamous slaughter that occurred two local months after the Third Parley. His continued existence strongly implies that General Wilde or other members of the Sacred Band may also have been able to escape.
He was also on the guest list at the 314th birthday of Anselm XXVI, Autarch of Scriven. Visual evidence locates him as having been in the Autarch’s pleasure dome when Donatello’s David was stolen at the height of the revelries. This same visual evidence was used to free Abellio from the Autarch’s dungeons four local months later, and he was officially exonerated of involvement. The Autarch’s Secret Police still consider him “a person of interest.”
Unofficial reports place him on Vestral in the days before the abduction of Princess Shaleen from the temple compound, in Newer Vienna the day after Archduchess Kayeree “the Red” was fatally wounded in a clandestine duel, and in the audience for the premier performance of Tch-!aa’s “That’s Not My Tentacle.”
Various organizations in the Lykofian Empire have made discrete inquiries about Abellio on numerous occasions: the Parliament of Owls once, the Singular of Boars once (notably after the death of Archduchess Kayeree), the Conspiracy of Ravens twice, and the Ostentation of Peacocks four times (though the last was apparently only interested in what manner, if any, of gloves he was wearing). The complete lack of interest shown by the Murmuration of Starlings in him strongly implies that he is not the bastard offspring of anyone of importance. Conversely, the complete lack of interest shown by the Skulk of Foxes is extremely suspicious.
