Individuals who abuse weapon bearing privileges risk having them revoked by Station Security. Suspended weapons rights can be appealed with the station administration.
Melee weapons powered or otherwise, are legal for carry aboard station. In extreme cases, melee weapons that exceed the intent of this regulation shall be check at the port authority armory in accordance with § W102.
At no time are explosives or any kind to be carried aboard station. Those trading in military or industrial explosives are to adhere to station regulations § C231 – secure transport and exchange of volatile cargo.
Provisions of this section are subject to suspension during times of conflict, as directed by station administration.
§ W102
Sidearm are defined by station administration as projectile and energy weapons commonly defined as pistols. Weapons are classified by security upon station embarkation. Weapons not meeting the carry requirements of § W102 shall be checked into the armory at port authority for storage while the owner is embarked.
OOC –
As a roleplaying Sim, combat and violence is a part of the game at Botany Bay. However much like a western town, weapons aboard the station are intended for self-defense, not for blowing holes in the hull. As an example: A cowboy wouldn’t raise much of an eye walking into the saloon with a six shooter or two at the him, but if he was toting a few rifles, a shot gun and the six shooters, well that would be a bit much, and surely would warrant a talk from the sheriff or marshal. To keep the damage under control, we implement a sidearm only rule. It makes sense both IC and OOCly.
Generally, any weapon you can holster at your hip, we’ll consider a pistol, this would include small submachine guns. If you need to sling it over a shoulder, or back, then it’s too large. Not a perfect system, but one we tweak as we go. If your weapons are built in and violate the rule, then security would require you disarm them in such a way as to make them inert while aboard station.
